The resort grounds celebrate Portuguese architecture and there are plenty of varied dining options to explore throughout the resort. We spent 4 days at Pine Cliffs Resort and put together this review, to help you decide where to stay on your next visit to the Algarve!

Pine Cliffs Resort Location
Pine Cliffs Resort is located on the cliffs above Praia da Falésia, one of the most stunning beaches in Portugal. The resort is located a short 40-minute drive from Faro International Airport which is the main gateway to the Algarve from cities all over Europe; and will also soon feature a direct flight to New York/Newark beginning May 2025. If you’re incorporating a visit to the Algarve into an extended Portugal vacation, Lisbon International Airport is a reasonable 2.5 hours drive away.
Pine Cliffs Resort does not provide shuttle service from the airport. You can book a transfer to your hotel from as a private airport transfer.
Taxis and Ubers are readily available at Faro airport, and cost around 30 EUR ($33 USD) for an Uber, with a taxi being slightly more for the 40 minute drive. Rental cars in Portugal are also very reasonably priced, and Pine Cliffs Resort offers complimentary parking.
For exploring the Algarve, Pine Cliffs Resort is centrally located in the middle of the Algarvian coastline, just a 15 minute drive from Albufeira.
Pine Cliffs Resort Arrival
When you arrive at Pine Cliffs Resort in the Algarve, you will drive through the main entrance and then follow the road through the private resort grounds to the right until you reach the main hotel and resort area. Pine Cliffs is much more than just a resort, with luxury residences and a golf course surrounding the resort grounds.
Driving up to the main building, you will immediately see one of the main draws of this resort, the beautiful Portuguese architecture with vibrant blue Azulejo tiles everywhere. Entering the lobby, the check-in area is on your right, and directly ahead is the stunning courtyard. The courtyard is truly spectacular, covered in Azulejo tiles with a fountain in the middle, you can’t take a bad photo here!

Pine Cliffs Resort Rooms
Pine Cliffs Resort in the Algarve offers 217 hotel rooms, plus 148 suites with various views, sizes, and locations on the resort grounds. Note that Pine Cliffs Resort is a member of Marriott’s Luxury Collection which many people will find rewarding and a great place to earn or redeem Marriott Bonvoy points.
During our time at Pine Cliffs Resort, we stayed in one of the Ocean Suites. You enter the suite into a fully equipped kitchen which opens into a large living with separate television and balcony. Further into the suite, there is a large bedroom with king-size bed and an open bathroom with a large freestanding bathtub in the center. The bedroom also includes a small desk area and additional balcony access.
Keep in mind that there are a number of room options at the Pine Cliffs Resort, and many rooms are also available that feature Portuguese tiles in the bedroom for even more of a Portuguese experience.
Pine Cliffs Resort Amenities
The resort has plenty to offer for travelers and vacationers. The main draw for many is the beachfront location. Despite the resort being perched high up on the cliffs, the beach is easily accessible thanks to a direct elevator that goes from the resort level down to the beach level. Down at ocean level you can reserve an umbrella for the day or go for a long walk in the sand. For the more adventurous there are watersports activities available nearby.
If you prefer to relax by a pool instead of at the beach, Pine Cliffs Resort has you covered. There are 8 swimming pools all over the property where you can relax, go for a drink, or sip a drink.
Pine Cliffs Resort is expansive and is fun to explore to find a new area with great Portuguese architecture, or a quiet spot to sit and relax. We enjoyed walking through the resort grounds and discovering what was around every corner.
If you’re looking to relax, the Serenity Spa is the place to focus on wellness and rejuvenation. There are many massages and treatments on offer, which you can follow with time spent in the Thermal Oasis, an exclusive area to relax in the spa pools, the herbal or Himalayan salt sauna, one of the sensory showers, or outside in the garden area.
We enjoyed a couples massage followed by a relaxing time in the Aurum Suite. The Aurum Suite is an exclusive room that can be reserved for couples after a treatment, and it comes with a bottle of champagne. Inside there is your own private jacuzzi, a steam room, dry sauna, and shower facilities.
The resort is also home to a well-renowned golf course and multiple tennis courts for those looking to be a bit active on their vacation. Additionally, the resort grounds feature extensive walking and running paths. The ACTIVE Health Club is also available every day with plenty of gym equipment and featuring views of the resort grounds.
Pine Cliffs Resort Dining
With nine restaurants and two bars there’s no shortage of places to eat and drink at Pine Cliffs Resort in the Algarve, with enough options to have dinner at a new restaurant every night.
The main restaurant for breakfast at Pine Cliffs Resort is Jardim Colonial, with a large buffet on offer. There is both indoor and outdoor dining available, with coffee served at your table however you like it. The breakfast buffet has a number of different sections with fresh bread and pastries, fresh fruit, a Portuguese and Spanish area, and an omelet station.
Our favorite restaurant option for lunch or dinner is Maré, which is a seafood restaurant located right on the beach. The setting is really beautiful with the beach stretching on in both directions, backed by the bright red cliffs. To access Maré you simply take the elevator from the resort level down to the beach, and then walk along the footpath to the restaurant. We highly recommend choosing all of your favorite seafood options here.
Throughout the day you can also dine at Corda Café, O Grill, the Clubhouse, or Zest – a place of find light and healthy meals for both breakfast and lunch.
Before dinner, be sure to stop at the Mirador Champagne Bar for a glass of champagne or cocktail and to watch the sunset over the nearby pine cliffs. The view here is a truly beautiful and it is a fantastic option to have a drink before dinner.
For dinner, we recommend trying O Pescador for some fresh Algarvian seafood options or Piri Piri Steakhouse. You also have the option of dining at some of the more unique restaurants at the resort including Portofino with a warm Italian atmosphere or Rohini with vibrant flavors and colors of India.
In addition, room service is also available so you can dine within the comforts of your room or suite.

Staying at Pine Cliffs Resort is a great option for anyone looking to have the perfect getaway in the Algarve. The resort has an amazing beach, beautiful cliff views, and plenty of dining options and activities for a great vacation.
