St. Regis Washington DC Lobby

Georgetown is full of charm, from the cobblestone streets to the colorful townhomes and the huge number of restaurants, shops, music venues, and bars that can be found throughout the neighborhood. We highly recommend dedicating at least half a day, if not a full one, to explore everything Georgetown has to offer!
The Pink House (Call Your Mother Deli)
Our first Washington DC Instagram spot that can be found in Georgetown is The Pink House, which is currently occupied by Call Your Mother Deli. The Pink House is exactly what it sounds like: a historic, bright pink building with teal accents. The Pink House gained its signature color, and thus its reputation, thanks to the building’s former occupant, GreenWorks Floral Shop. When Call Your Mother Deli took over the space in 2020, they added the touches of teal that make the building really pop. Call Your Mother Deli is known for serving up delicious fresh-baked bagels and bagel sandwiches, so make sure you arrive hungry!

To add even greater variety to your Instagram feed, we highly recommend venturing out of the city to explore some of these nearby locations as well.
Shenandoah National Park
The first stop we recommend visiting outside of Washington DC is Shenandoah National Park, which can be found in Virginia. Shenandoah National Park runs along the Blue Ridge Mountains, a mountain range that extends 550 miles (885 km) through a number of southeastern states. Shenandoah National Park is a beautiful area full of forests, rolling hills, and plenty of wildlife. Although Shenandoah National Park technically isn’t within Washington DC, we still consider it one of the most Instagrammable places in Washington DC because it’s only about 70 miles (112 km) outside of the city, making it a very easy day trip.

Tips: Shenandoah National Park is a massive area! The only public road that goes through the park, Skyline Drive, is 105 miles (168 km) long and there are a ton of viewpoints along the way. If you’re short on time, don’t feel like you have to drive the whole road!
Hills of West Virginia
After exploring Shenandoah National Park, we recommend continuing west to explore some of the beautiful hills of West Virginia. West Virginia is another must-visit Washington DC Instagram spot that can easily be combined with Shenandoah National Park for a quick day trip. The scenery in West Virginia is similar to that of Shenandoah National Park, but more dramatic overall. You’ll be in awe at the rolling hills and valleys you find just across the state border in West Virginia.

Just about 40 miles (64 km) north of Washington DC is another beautiful city well-worth a visit: Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore is a large city that, like Washington DC, is full of history and charm. Throughout Baltimore you’ll find a number of quaint neighborhoods, museums, shops, and restaurants that are perfect for a day of exploring. Given how close Baltimore is to Washington DC, we definitely recommend taking the time to visit this amazing town if you have a whole day, or even just half of a day, to spare!
Tips: While you can definitely drive from Washington DC to Baltimore, another option is to take a quick 40-minute train ride via Amtrak!
If you enjoyed your visit to Baltimore and want to explore more of Maryland, we highly recommend swinging over to the nearby town of Annapolis. Annapolis, the capital of Maryland, is a beautiful seaside town located on Chesapeake Bay. Though the city is small, Annapolis is very picturesque and offers a great variety of activities as well as shopping and dining options. Annapolis is also a very historic town which is evident in the winding cobblestone roads and brick buildings that can be found throughout. Annapolis is around 30 miles (48 km) outside of Washington DC, making it an easy addition to your trip.
Tips: Maryland is known for its fresh seafood, so make sure to try some during your visit!
