St. Regis Punta Mita Location
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort is located north of the city of Puerto Vallarta, as well as the popular resort strip in Nuevo Vallarta. The resort is about a 1 hour drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
The St. Regis Punta Mita is located within the exclusive 1,500 acre Punta Mita community. This private resort and residential community is home to not only the St. Regis Punta Mita, but also the Four Seasons Punta Mita, luxury private residences, and two golf courses. The area is extremely peaceful and quiet, full of lush nature and of course it has never-ending ocean views and sea breezes.
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort does not provide shuttle service, however they can organize private transfer for you from Puerto Vallarta airport. Alternatively, taxis are readily available at the airport, however are estimated at $100 USD each way.
Uber is also available and is significantly cheaper than a taxi, however Uber drivers are not allowed to pick-up rides at the airport, so you will have to walk a few minutes off airport property. To do this, just head outside and look for the elevated walkway from the airport over the main road. Once on the other side you can easily be picked up by an Uber driver. It is no problem to take an Uber back to be dropped off at the airport.
If you don’t have private transportation organized, a rental car is also a great option. All major brands are located at Puerto Vallarta International Airport, and having a rental car is a great way to explore on your own and visit all of Puerto Vallarta, but also the nearby trendy village of Sayulita. At the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, valet parking is available and is complimentary.
St. Regis Punta Mita Arrival
When arriving at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, you will first have to enter the private grounds of Punta Mita. After confirming your reservation at the St. Regis hotel, you will be let in at the entrance gates and given directions to the resort. It’s a 5 to 10 minute drive to the far end of the Punta Mita peninsula. Driving through Punta Mita feels like you are worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta, and the experience overall at this resort feels much more exclusive and unique compared to the typical Puerto Vallarta resorts closer to town.
When you arrive at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, there is another guard check at the St. Regis gate, before you drive up to the main entrance building where check-in, check-out, and a few other amenities are located.
As we arrived during COVID-19 times, safety precautions were in place such as hand sanitizers and all of the staff were wearing face masks throughout our stay, as were most guests except when at the pool or dining at a restaurant.
Check-in was completed quickly and easily. You will be offered a seat on the beautiful terrace of the main entrance building where you get one of the most spectacular views on the property. The cascading water feature stretches nearly as far as the eye can see and is bordered with towering palm trees. You’ll make no mistake that you’ve just been transported to paradise.
Enjoy your delicious welcome drink with this view before being escorted by golf cart with your luggage to your room, just a short drive away.
St. Regis Punta Mita Rooms
The 120 guest rooms and suites at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort are located in multiple buildings spread throughout the large property. Depending on your room, you may have a view of the resort grounds, the pool area, or be right on the beach. Some St. Regis Punta Mita reviews note that the rooms are outdated, but we loved the classical design and luxury of the rooms. Our room, and all of the other areas of the resort that we interacted with where maintained to a very high standard.
During our time at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, we stayed in a Deluxe King Room. The rooms are classically styled, with all of the luxury amenities expected of a St. Regis. The warm terracotta colored tile floors go perfectly with the exposed wood beams to make you feel like you’re staying in a private Mexican villa on the ocean.
There is comfortable seating as well as a desk if you need to get any work done during your stay. The rooms are quite large at 600 sq feet (56 sq m), so once you find the bathroom on the other side of the room you will be wowed with the free-standing soaker tub and the incredible private outdoor shower. The outdoor shower is fully enclosed and completely private, and a great place to refresh after a day spent at the beach.
One of the best aspects of all the rooms at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort are the large outdoor terraces for each room. You can enjoy your morning coffee outside on the partially covered terrace, and listen to the ocean waves and feel the breeze in complete bliss. The terraces are private, and offer a table with seating as well as a comfortable day bed.
St. Regis Punta Mita Amenities
What we were most impressed with at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort was how large the resort grounds felt. It seemed that it was never too busy, and you always had a part of the resort to yourself. If you are looking for a Punta Mita resort or Puerto Vallarta area resort that has an emphasis on privacy, this is the one for you!
The main entrance building where you check-in is situated at roughly the highest area of the resort. The main water feature that stretches out towards the ocean includes two adult swimming pools at its base. This is a great place to relax as there are just a few lounge chairs, meaning you will have few other guests around you so that you can focus on pure relaxation. In addition, the beach area in front of these pools is intended as an adults-only area, however swimming here is not great as there are a number of rocks in the water.
Whether you decide to sit down in the adults-only area of the St. Regis Punta Mita resort, or anywhere else, you can expect to have prompt towel and water service. The service staff will make sure that you always have a freshly folded towel at hand, as well as ice cold water. If you choose, you can also order as many drinks or snacks as you like from beside the pool, or while on the beach, and they will all be delivered right to you.
On either side of this main area are multiple buildings which house some of the rooms and suites. The pathway to the left also includes the spa. If you take the pathway to the right from the main entrance, you will first pass by the Carolina Signature Restaurant before reaching the second main area of the resort, where you will find the Las Marietas Family Pool, more restaurants, and a large grass area before the beach and Mita Mary Boat Bistro, which is located right on the beach. The beach area is also quite expansive, and is the better swimming area as there is a portion of the white sand that stretches into the water.
One of the great features of the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort is all of the unique seating and relaxing areas that you will find throughout the resort. You can spend your day lounging at one of the pools, on lounges at the beach, a hammock at the beach, or one of the many other seating and relaxing areas spread throughout the resort grounds.
If you’re looking to be pampered, make a reservation for a spa service at the Luxe Remede Spa, or if you’d rather get some exercise outside you can also enjoy either of the two Jack Nicklaus designed golf courses or the outdoor tennis courts. The resort can also schedule water activities or other excursions for you if you elect not to go out on your own.
St. Regis Punta Mita Dining
The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort has incredible dining. While you should definitely go and try some of the amazing local Mexican food on the streets of Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita, you’d be forgiven for not venturing too far, as the food here is so delicious, you’re not left wanting more!
In lieu of coffee makers in each room, the St. Regis Punta Mita offers to deliver a fresh pot of coffee to your room whenever you please. You can schedule your coffee delivery the night before, or call whenever you wake up, and you’ll be brought some coffee to enjoy in bed or outside on your private terrace. We really enjoyed these relaxing mornings at the St. Regis Punta Mita, just sipping coffee, relaxing, and taking it all in.
The main restaurant is the Sea Breeze Restaurant. This is where the expansive breakfast buffet is offered, as well as dining throughout the day for lunch or dinner. The breakfast spread is comprehensive to say the least with a full selection of typical American fare, English Breakfast, and all of the Mexican options you could want. Alternatively, or in addition, you can order a la carte from the menu. The fresh fruit and French Toast was particularly delicious here, as were the customized omelets that you could order.
For lunch, you have the option of dining at the Sea Breeze Restaurant again, the nearby Las Marietas Restaurant and Bar, or ordering a snack at the serviced lounges. Most other guests seem to enjoy ordering lunch poolside, along with a few drinks.
For dinner, the Sea Breeze Restaurant also offers beautiful indoor or outdoor dining. Enjoy a delicious meal with a view of the ocean outside in the warm Riviera Nayarit weather. If you’re looking for a more formal-dining option for dinner, the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort includes the Carolina Signature Restaurant for top-quality Mexican cuisine.
Additionally, the St. Regis Punta Mita offers a unique dinner dining experience with the Mita Mary Boat Bistro. The restaurant is made to look like a beached boat, and here you can enjoy a feet in the sand dining experience, complete with fire torches and free ocean breezes. We really enjoyed all of the tacos they had available, as well as the house-made ceviche. Be sure to plan at least one evening meal or drinks at the Mita Mary Boat Bistro where you can watch the sun go down.
