Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Location
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal is located in the exclusive Pedregal hillside community just behind the town of Cabo San Lucas, with steep cliffs facing the Pacific Ocean and the setting sun. This location means you are close enough to easily walk from the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal into Cabo San Lucas for your fill of shopping, street tacos, and entertainment. What really sets the Waldorf Astoria Pedregal apart as a top luxury Cabo resort though is the stunning entrance. You drive through Mexico’s only privately-owned tunnel to arrive on the Pacific side of the mountain and are immediately transported to paradise.
You will most likely be arriving in Cabo at the main airport, Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), which is actually located near the smaller San José del Cabo. It is a 45 minute drive from the airport to one of the ultimate luxury resorts in Los Cabos Mexico. This drive can easily be completed via taxi, Uber, or private transportation. From the hotel, trips into the main town of Cabo San Lucas take only about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive.
Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Arrival
The arrival area of the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos is impressive to say the least. The build-up of excitement to see the hotel is amplified by the long tunnel that you drive through to get there. Once you have pulled up to the front of the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos, you are presented with palm trees, beautiful architecture, and the Pacific Ocean.
The whole check-in experience is completed in a covered outdoor area, so you can immediately begin enjoying the beautiful Mexican weather. As we arrived during COVID-19 times, safety precautions were in full force. Our temperatures were taken as we arrived, and hand sanitizer and face masks were worn by all staff.
Check-in was completed efficiently, and we were welcomed to this luxury Cabo resort by our personal concierge, two glasses of their signature Pedregal Spicy Margarita, and then we were quickly escorted up to our room.
Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Rooms
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos is a collection of multiple buildings spread throughout the property. Some are more traditional resort rooms and suites, and some are much larger multi-bedroom suites, or even the impressive luxury casitas, or villas, with their own plunge pools and uninterrupted views. During our time at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos, we stayed in an Ocean View Deluxe King Bed with a plunge pool.
Rooms at this luxury Cabo resort are all decorated similarly, with beautiful thoughtful touches. The colors, textures, and décor instantly make you feel like you are in Mexico and are not over the top, but homely and comfortable – perfect for a relaxing vacation at one of the best luxury resorts in Los Cabos Mexico.
The rooms are large, and feature a beautiful fireplace to keep warm on a cool evening, high-end in-room coffee machines, a spa-like bathroom, and a huge balcony. You’re going to want to open the floor-to ceiling glass doors to spend all of your time outside on your balcony with private plunge pool.
This is not an all-inclusive resort, but the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos does include a few thoughtful touches like fresh fruit and a bottle of tequila provided in every room. In addition, you can have daily freshly prepared guacamole, pico de gallo and tortilla brought up to your room each afternoon with the option of Corona beer or a margarita to also enjoy. After extensive sampling of guacamole and chips, the included afternoon snack here at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos is one of the best of not only the luxury Cabo resorts, but all of Mexico. If you really want to indulge, you can also arrange a floating breakfast in your personal plunge pool!
Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Amenities
The main reception area of the resort where you arrive by car is the central area of the resort, but primarily includes the lobby and concierge. Off to the left are a number of buildings and rooms, including the gym. Off to the right are even more rooms, and a few small stores and kiosks for essentials or handicrafts during the day. The level below is where all of the action is happening.
In the center of the resort area houses the main bar and restaurant for all meals, Don Manuel’s. In front of this is the main pool, with poolside bar, and simply stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Directly in front of the pool is the expansive beach area.
While the beach is not private, it is also not very busy from those not staying at the Waldorf Astoria as it is hard to access due to the location being almost entirely surrounded by large cliffs. Due to the very strong currents and waves, swimming in the ocean here is not recommended. If you are fortunate enough to visit in January, you will be able to see whales from shore; the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos even provides binoculars in every room, allowing you to get a zoomed in view of the whales jumping offshore.
Also on property are some other areas to grab a meal or drink, a few other pools, and the resorts flagship dining experience at El Farallon. Of course, if the Waldorf Astoria Spa is also available for any number of wellness and beauty treatments to pamper yourself during your stay.
Additionally, throughout your stay you will have a personal concierge that will ensure your stay stay this luxury Cabo resort is outstanding. What the personal concierge team can do for you is impressive, but you will likely most often use their assistance for dinner reservations, spa packages, and booking tours to explore more of Los Cabos. Waldorf Astoria Pedregal Dining
The Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos has some impressive dining options. Don Manuel’s is the main restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is a beautiful open-air hacienda-style dining experience. All ingredients are fresh, local, and delicious!
For us, breakfast here was a true highlight, where we experienced the best French toast we have ever had. Crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside, and brimmed with delicious toppings, it is absolutely heavenly! Everything on the breakfast menu was simply fantastic, including the fresh pastries which you definitely do not want to miss.
The flagship restaurant, and arguably one of the best dining experiences in Los Cabos, is El Farallon. The restaurant is located on the far right-hand side of the resort as you look out to the ocean, and is perched on the rocky cliffs right above the Pacific Ocean.
In addition, there is a family-orientated Beach Club restaurant, Crudo specializing in seafood, and of course in-room dining which is also delicious and fitting of a luxury Cabo resort.
One of the unique features at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos is their impressive selection of classes, where you can learn how to cook traditional Mexican dishes, how to prepare amazing craft cocktails, or learn the nuances of tequila or wine tasting. We elected to treat ourselves to the cocktail class, and were very impressed! We learned so much about crafting the perfect cocktail, and also got to try making a few of our own!
Most importantly, we got to make the signature Pedregal Spicy Margarita, which is the best margarita that we have ever had, and trust us when we say we have sampled a lot of margaritas across Mexico searching for the best one! What makes the Pedregal margarita unique is the inclusion of Ancho Reyes liquor, as well as the homemade spicy Pasilla Pepper syrup with the perfect balance of spiciness and sweetness. Over the course of our cocktail class, we watched and prepared 4 cocktails each and were also treated to a delicious ceviche to keep us from staggering away from the bar!
No matter where you dine at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos, you will enjoy excellent service and a delicious meal.
