Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Location
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has a unique location just south of the city of Puerto Vallarta. The resort sits within a small crescent shaped bay, and it is the only resort here, surrounded by cliffs on either side. This results in giving the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta a much more exclusive and exotic feel than would be expected for the price and location at just 10 minutes’ drive from the city. The resort is about a half hour drive from Puerto Vallarta International Airport.
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Resort does not provide shuttle service, however they can organize private transfer for you from Puerto Vallarta airport. Alternatively, taxis are readily available at the airport, and are estimated at $25 USD each way.
Uber is also available and is significantly cheaper than a taxi, however Uber drivers are not allowed to pick-up rides at the airport, so you will have to walk a few minutes off airport property. To do this, just head outside and look for the elevated walkway from the airport over the main road. Once on the other side you can easily be picked up by an Uber driver. It is no problem to take an Uber back to be dropped off at the airport, and the location of the resort so close to the city of Puerto Vallarta means that it is easy to get an Uber if you venture out for the day.
If you don’t have private transportation organized, a rental car is also a great option. All major brands are located at Puerto Vallarta International Airport, and having a rental car is a great way to explore on your own and visit all of Puerto Vallarta, but also the surrounding hills and the trendy village of Sayulita an hour north. At the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Resort, valet parking is available and is complimentary.
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Arrival
When arriving at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Resort, be sure not to miss your exit. The road is high on the hillside above the resort, and you actually exit the main road towards the cliff, and then circle back underneath to reach the resort. The arrival area is open and full of lush tropical plants.
When you pull up to the check-in area at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Resort, your bags will be taken and you are now ready to get your vacation started! If you are an elite member of World of Hyatt, there is a separate check-in area that you will be taken to fill out the required forms, and to receive your welcome drink.
As we arrived during COVID-19 times, safety precautions were in place such as hand sanitizers and all of the staff were wearing face masks throughout our stay, as were most guests except when at the pool or dining at a restaurant.
Check-in was completed quickly and easily, and we were soon escorted to our room with our luggage.
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Rooms
There are two towers at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. The main building, where you arrive and where check-in is located in the center of the resort. To the right is the larger tower where most rooms are located. Off to your left, when facing the ocean, is the smaller tower, or Club Building, which has a more intimate feel.
During our time at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Resort, we stayed in a Swim Up King Room which was located in the Club Building. The room was large, clean, and had a traditional style. It had everything we needed for our stay, with a small work area, ample storage, a large sitting area, rainfall shower, and of course an outdoor terrace. We were also very warmly welcomed with a beautiful display and treats in our room. If you are celebrating any special occasion, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta can really deliver an experience to remember.
You’re really reading this Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta review for the swim-up pool details though. The main feature of the room is without a doubt the large outdoor terrace with private lounge chairs, and direct access to the semi-private pool. The pool spans the length of the building, but is only accessible to those with the swim-up room. It is also designed as such that other resort guests walking by can’t easily see directly into your room and terrace as the pool is elevated from the main walkway.
The outdoor terrace is also a great place to order morning room service so that you can enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast with a fantastic view.
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Amenities
When you arrive at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, you are on the 1st floor of the main building. On this level you will find reception, the concierge, some small shops, the Deli coffee shop, and Hyghlightz Sports Bar. One level down, are the VivaZ Buffet and MelanZane restaurants. Directly in front of these two restaurants you will find all of the resort pools, relaxation areas, and swim-up bar. If you head upstairs to the 2nd level you will find the Vita Mar Spa, gym, and beauty salon. The Vita Mar Spa has excellent ocean views to take in and relax before and after your treatment.
To the left of the main building (when facing the ocean) is the Club Building, which also includes a small bar for the exclusive use of Club Building guests. This is perfect to grab a drink as you are exiting or leaving your room.
At the end of the Club Building right at the waters edge is the BlaZe restaurant, and between the Club Building and the main building is the Casa Grande restaurant.
To the right of the main building is the tower with most of the resort rooms, but it also includes a beach bar and direct access to the beach. The area in front of all the buildings right before the beach is full of multiple pools, lounges, pathways, and gardens.
If you’re looking to have a great local Mexican experience, indulging in the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta tequila tasting is a fantastic idea. You’ll be taken through the various types of tequila with a tasting menu, all curated by the tequila sommelier.
The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta can also arrange a number of water sports for you, such as sea kayaking, boat tours, or a Puerto Vallarta favorite, a parasailing tour.
Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta Dining
As an all-inclusive resort, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has lots of dining and drinking options to keep you happy throughout your stay. We were incredibly surprised by the level of service everywhere went dined and went at the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta. Everyone we met was kind, talkative, and polite, and a joy to interact with.
Starting with our favorite restaurant by far is the stunningly located BlaZe. This restaurant is located at the southernmost corner of the resort, perched above the rocks and waves of the Pacific Ocean. The views here don’t get any better, and the best part of all is that you can dine here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast at BlaZe is offered a la carte, and there’s nothing more rejuvenating than starting your day off with the fresh ocean breezes and the sounds of crashing waves. Alternatively, BlaZe offers a mixed menu for lunch, and rotating menus for dinner, so if you choose to dine here every night, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.
VivaZ is the main restaurant, located at the base of the main tower, offers a huge buffet for every meal of the day. In addition, you can order room service or have your lunch and drinks poolside. There is a convenient food and beverage cart around the pool area each day which has rotating snack items such as tacos, ceviche, and hot dogs.
If you’re looking for a sports bar, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta also has you covered with the Hyghlightz Sports Bar, with more TV screens than you can watch, and ocean views for the commercial breaks. Right next door is the Deli café, which we frequented multiple times per day for delicious café lattes and some sweet treats. There are also two other restaurants on the ground level, the Casa Grande restaurant featuring a traditional Mexican experience, and MelanZane with an Italian flair.
Additionally, the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta offers a special and unique dining experience for those looking to celebrate a special occasion or just celebrate life. The Premium Private Dining experience allows you to reserve a private table on the beach for dinner. The set-up is very romantic, and getting watch the sun set across the ocean while you enjoy your meal is an incredible experience. You can choose your meal plan ahead of time and you will have excellent personalized service throughout the evening. This is a definite must-try if you haven’t tried this type of dining experience before.
