30 Best Barcelona Instagram Spots

In no particular order, these are our favorite spots in Barcelona, perfect for making memories and creating epic photos for Instagram!

Sagrada Familia

The first of our Barcelona Instagram spots is Sagrada Familia, a massive Catholic church that has been under construction since 1882. Sagrada Familia is one of the most unique attractions in Barcelona because it holds the status as the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world! Officially designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, Sagrada Familia has since become the most-visited monument in all of Spain. The exterior of Sagrada Familia is jaw-droppingly intricate, and while there are several places you can take beautiful photos of the church, the best view is from Placa de Gaudi.

Location: Sagrada Familia

Cost: The cheapest standard entrance fee is €30 ($32.50 USD), however there are many ticket packages available that include the Sagrada Familia, and are a great way to save money on multiple entrance fees throughout Barcelona!

Best Time for Photos: Sunrise is the best time to photograph Sagrada Familia to ensure minimal crowds. Taking a nice Instagram photo here in the afternoon is nearly impossible.

Tips: Skip the line to get inside by purchasing advance tickets here! There are multiple photo spots from Placa de Gaudi on the northeast side of the church, as well as Placa de la Sagrada Familia on the southwest side of the church.

Casa Padua

Casa Padua is a gorgeous home that easily ranks as one of the most Instagrammable places in Barcelona. Not much is known about the history or origins of this unique building and its colorful façade, which only adds to its mysterious charm. Casa Padua is easy to recognize by its large front door painted in a vibrant red color, and the eye-catching red and green designs that cover the entire front of the building. While the inside is closed to visitors, you can take plenty of show-stopping Instagram photos of Casa Padua’s exterior from the street!

Casa Padua Green and Red House Barcelona

Location: Casa Padua

Best Time for Photos: Morning is the best time to visit Casa Padua, however this is one of the least popular Barcelona Instagram spots, so it shouldn’t be a problem to leave this one until later in the day when other spots are too busy.

Tips: Make sure to bring your wide-angle lens – or equip the wide-angle shooting mode on your phone – to capture the entire building in all its glory! Due to the narrow street that it is located on, you’re not able to get very far away from the building to easily capture it all on a normal lens.

Montjuic Cable Car

One of the top Instagram places in Barcelona that also doubles as a fun afternoon activity is Montjuic Cable Car. Located in the heart of Barcelona, Montjuic Cable Car is a gondola that takes passengers from the downtown station up to a hill overlooking the entire city. The gondola ride is a fun and unique experience in and of itself, but the views from the cable car are what really set this Barcelona photo spot apart. In particular, you’ll be able to catch some gorgeous photographs of Barcelona from above, as well as the nearby beaches. Note that the cable car ride is only 10 minutes in total – so make sure you’re ready to start shooting as soon as you hop in the gondola!

Location: Montjuic Cable Car

Cost: You are able to purchase tickets at the base station for €10 ($10.75 USD) one way or €15 ($16.15 USD) return. You may have to wait in a long line like we did. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets in advance online to save time and money (a 10% discount is available for online purchases!).

Best Time for Photos: There’s no bad time to hop on the gondola, though a sunny day will provide the best conditions for taking photos.

How to Get There: Take the L2 or L3 line to Parallel station and switch to the Funiculars to Parc de Montjuic. The price of the funicular is the same as a metro ticket and included in your metro card. From the top of the funicular it is a short walk out of the station to the base of the cable car.

Tips: To get the best photos along the way, try to get a cable car to yourself, however if you’re not able to the best photos from the cable cars are actually on the way down when you are on the outside of the poles, with a clearer view of the city.

Park Guell

Park Guell is undoubtedly one of the best and most popular Instagram spots in Barcelona. With over 40 acres (16 hectares) of greenery and walking paths, Park Guell is one of the largest parks in the entire city. Park Guell is actually divided into two unique sections known as the Forest Zone and the Monumental Zone. This is so the park can better regulate the number of daily visitors (which is limited to 1,400 per hour) and ensure the historically significant sites within the Monumental Zone are properly preserved. While both areas of Park Guell are beautiful, the Monumental Zone is definitely worth a visit as long as you can be there right when it opens at 9:00 AM. In particular, the Greek Theater is one of the most popular destinations in Park Guell’s Monumental Zone, so plan to visit there first.

Location: Park Guell

Cost: Visiting the Forest Zone is free to visit, however the Monumental Visit costs €10 ($10.75 USD) for adults and €7 ($7.50 USD) for children 7-12 and seniors 65+ (children 6 and under are free).

Best Time for Photos: 9:00 AM when the park first opens is the best time to take photos before huge crowds begin to roll in.

Tips: You can buy tickets online here to skip the line when you go to visit.

Casa Batllo

Casa Batllo is another gorgeous home that is a must-visit addition to our list of the most Instagrammable places in Barcelona. Designed by renowned architect Antoni Gaudi in 1904, Casa Batllo is often considered one his most impressive pieces of work. Casa Batllo has a truly unique façade consisting of colorful tile mosaics, a rounded, dragon-like roof, and misshapen windows and arches that make the building look like something out of a fairytale. Casa Batllo was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005 and is visited by one million tourists from all over the world every year. The interior of Casa Batllo is equally whimsical and interesting as the exterior, so make sure you allot enough time to explore the entire building.

Best Time for Photos: To ensure minimal crowds, plan your visit for 9:00 AM, right when the building opens. It’s best to visit nearly all of the Gaudi buildings early in the morning if you want to enjoy them with the fewest crowds and have the best chance at photos.

Tips: Make sure to pay a visit to the rooftop for the most Instagrammable views!

Barcelona Cathedral

Not to be confused with Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Cathedral is another stunning Catholic church that most will agree is a top Instagram spot in Barcelona. Construction on the church began in 1298 but wasn’t completed until 1448, though the site of the church was first consecrated as early as 1058. Barcelona Cathedral is undoubtedly one of the best examples of Gothic architecture in the city of Barcelona. While the entire church is stunning, the best place to take photos at Barcelona Cathedral is the rooftop walkway.

Carmel Bunkers – MUHBA Turo de la Rovira

The Carmel Bunkers, which are located at MUHBA Turo de la Rovira, are not only a top Instagram place in Barcelona, but also an excellent example of local history. Built in 1938, the Carmel Bunkers served as military fortifications that enabled soldiers to watch for potential enemy intruders. The bunkers are situated atop a hill overlooking the entire city of Barcelona, ensuring amazing views.

Tips: Make sure to check the concert schedule before visiting, as the palace is closed to the general public during these times (unless you have a concert ticket).

La Boqueria

La Boqueria is not only one of the most Instagrammable places in Barcelona, but it’s also one of the most delicious!
